My name is Cody Diamond, and my journey began in a small rural town called Tapanui in West Otago. If the name isn’t familiar to you, it’s a small town located below the Blue Mountains in the middle of everywhere and nowhere.

My Story
My story, is that I have always been a hands-on creative and enthusiastic person, which has sparked my passion for using design for people and the community, whether it is for sports or the history of my town and family history.
Throughout my years studying Communication Design at Otago Polytechnic I have been opening doors into new opportunities and expanding my skills and knowledge into new areas. This has made me grow into the person I am.
I have a passion for carrying the new knowledge and skills back to the grass roots of my community. I have also branched out into other disciplines including photography and graphic design, both of which I really enjoy. Each new project pushes me to further my knowledge and increase my skill-set which has helped me towards my dream job of becoming a professional signwriter.
As a designer I focus on four core values, my community, growing my skill set, my next opportunity, and most importantly what can I do to make positive change for the sustainability of New Zealand and our future generations.

Community
How I get myself involved in community is important to me and my daily life, whether it be where I currently live, or the communities around me.

Whether others need a helping hand with their projects, big or small, I want to be putting others first. Learning new skills and gaining opportunities is important to me, because without change we cannot move forward in the world.

It helps me be diverse as a graphic designer, to embrace difference, and to be able to have a good skill-set, but it is also important to me as a person to be looking over new horizons, wherever they may be.

My family and life is something I have grown to learn, and now I am wanting to be more a part of, to be able to understand my place in the world as a person but also a designer who wants to make a statement, make a difference, and create change for the better. I hope to be involved with my community to help create a better future.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari kē he toa takitini.
My success should not be bestowed onto me alone, as it was not individual success but success of a collective.
